Even after several visits over many years and nearly three years as an expatriate in the eternal capital, I’ve not been able to loosen the ties I created with the world’s most celebrated destination.  I have yet to find another country I’d rather call home.  Don’t get me wrong, though: Italy isn’t perfect, a strained economy, corrupt government and bureaucratic jungle of affairs taking their toll on la bella vita.  However, as a visitor, it’s the showpieces that’ll lure you in until you’re convinced you too never want to leave.  It is one of the world’s greatest art treasures and it has fodder - of which each region is respectively proud - that’ll have you thinking you’ve left the realms of Earth.  Italians know how to celebrate life and they live it to the fullest.  So, I urge you to go, spend time as a guest, be inspired - and even fall in love - but do leave so your altruistic and romantic notions are still in tow.  I hope this brief overview of Italy gets your Italian travel juices flowing enough to inspire you to consider planning a trip.
