Preconceived romantic notions of the rugged island are rarely left unfulfilled - it’s never been anti-climactic for me. Ireland is a breath of fresh country air, surrounded by a rich diversity of (mostly-emerald) terrain thanks in part to the warmth produced by the Atlantic. Moving throughout the island nation is therapeutic and a step outside of the norm: mythological traditions have endured the test of time as have traditional music and customs. Step foot inside a pub and the therapeutic effect continues - no-one is left to sit in silence. It’s one of my favourite destinations for leisurely exploration and for getting back to my paternal ancestral roots.
