From October 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023, the visa exemption period was extended to 45 days. It is always advisable to check the latest visa requirements before traveling as regulations can change.
Visitors from some countries can obtain a visa on arrival at the airport or land border, usually for a fee. This applies to citizens of various countries including India and China. The visa on arrival is valid for a stay of up to 15 days, and the fee is 2,000 Thai Baht (THB). Ensure you have all necessary documents such as a passport with at least 30 days' validity, a passport-sized photo, proof of onward travel, and proof of funds.
Those who require a visa in advance can apply at the nearest Thai embassy or consulate. Visa applications typically require a valid passport, a completed application form, a recent passport-size photo, proof of travel arrangements, and proof of sufficient funds for the duration of the stay. Some embassies also offer e-visa services, allowing applicants to complete the process online.

Best time to visit
Thailand has a tropical climate with three distinct seasons: the hot season, the cool season, and the rainy season. The best time to visit Thailand depends on your interests, budget, and preferred activities.
Cool Season (November to February):
November to February is considered the best time to visit Thailand, especially for tourists, as the weather is cooler and drier.
Temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C. This period offers pleasant weather with cool breezes, especially in the northern regions.
Ideal for beach vacations, outdoor activities, and sightseeing. This is also the peak season for tourism, so expect higher prices and larger crowds.
This period includes major festivals such as Loy Krathong in November and the New Year celebrations.
Hot Season (March to May):
Temperatures can soar above 35°C, especially in April. It is the hottest time of the year.
Great for water-based activities and beach visits, but can be uncomfortable for extensive sightseeing due to the heat.
The Songkran Festival, Thailand’s traditional New Year, occurs in mid-April. This is a nationwide water fight and cultural celebration.
Rainy Season (June to October):
High temperatures with frequent heavy rain and thunderstorms. Humidity levels are also high.
Lush, green landscapes and fewer tourists. This season is great for budget travellers as accommodation prices drop significantly.
The rainy season brings vibrant natural scenery and is excellent for bird watching.
Some islands and beaches may be less accessible due to rough seas, and certain areas might experience flooding.
Regional Variations:
Northern Thailand experiences cooler temperatures during the cool season, especially in places like Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
Central Thailand, including Bangkok and surrounding areas, have high humidity and heat, particularly during the hot season.
Southern Thai regions have a slightly different monsoon pattern, with the west coast (e.g., Phuket, Krabi) experiencing heavy rains from May to October, while the east coast (e.g., Koh Samui) gets its monsoon from October to December.
